The famous easy going shoe has been around for at least 4,000 years with records tracking it to ancient Egypt where they were made out of the papyrus leaf. These shoes have also been worn in different manners and styles in most civilizations throughout history.

For example, did you know that the ancient civilizations of Mexico used to make their own flip flop style shoe out of yucca plant? See, flip flops have been a trendy item for quite some time now.
